Known Issues:
The focusing group is notorious for shifting due to a loose follower block, which can obviously affect collimation. In some cases, collimation can be affected by a bent follower pin. See disassembly/re-assembly page below.
Service Manual: Disassembly/Re-assembly
Full CLA: 5-6 hrs.
Most of lens needs to come apart if contamination is deep in lens.
Re-align optics: No built in optical adjustments.
Collimation off: 2-5 hrs, less if the follower is just loose
focus cam follower rides in slot under focus cam. collimation can change if follower is not tightened properly, assembly can move in slot causing front group to change position.
8 times out of 10 the follower block is just loose, but always check if screw/pin is crooked in assembly (will be difficult to turn and pull out)
if pin and t-nut are bent, lens must be mostly dis-assembled to remove and replace parts due to construction.
