Known Issues:
1. calibration issues with Preston MDR3 system: From testing we believe the issue occurs when the MDR is being run off the camera's power supply and the user is making fast motions with the motor. Moving fast and/or with very high torque draws more current which will cause the voltage to the MDR to dip slightly which can cause the MDR to see the temporary loss of power and think the motor is out of position causing it to recalibrate. To prevent this we have found the best thing to do is to power the MDR off it's own battery, if the issue still persists then most likely there is an issue with the motor encoder itself but this solves the issue more often than not. If the user is unable to run the MDR off it's own battery they can also try decreasing the torque on the MDR so the motor will draw less current.
2. Internal motor is loud but everything tests fine.: There is some variation in noise level of the internal motor part. When assembled new, motors are tested to choose the quietest ones. In some cases, a slightly louder motor is used. to test is a replacement will solve the issue, connect the black/red wires to the power supply and test sound level before installation.

Key Notes: The encoder is separate form the rest of the internal motor for this model only. If internal motor test well but encoder does not, just the encoder can be replaced.

Full CLA: 2 hrs.
notes here
Replace internal motor (loud, slow, not calibrating well, continues to spin but encoder tests are good): 2 hrs. + Parts
if motor is loud and adjusting screws on gear housing do not change sound and/or spindle has play or clicking noise, motor is worn out and needs replacement.
If adjustments to set screws on housing do not remedy then: Remove hub housing to access internal motor pin. tug on pin. If pin has some play in it then the bearings inside the internal motor and worn out. a replacement internal motor will be necessary to remedy.
rarely: cause is broken wire between pin and lemo connector.

Encoder is bad: 1 hr + Part
Encoder is separate from rest of internal motor. Can be replaced without replacing the entire motor.
To identify: oscilloscope will show none or only one squared line instead of 2 meaning encoder or motor is bad. replace motor if none or only 1 squared line is showing.

Calibration not responding: 1 hr. + part
if internal motor and encoder both test good but calibration is not responding, resistor may be the cause. Replace and confirm.
part: resistor 5.6k

Convert M26VE to M26VE-LX: 2 hrs. + parts
not recommended since motor will function at a different torque level and noise levels. It will essentially be a different motor at that point.
parts to include: internal motor, lengthening housing insert, 16mm screws for Lemo housing.
upgrade benefits: top speed and acceleration

Hub has lost motion: 1 hr.
check: adjustment set screws, if hub locating slot or pin holes are worn, that housing screws are tight, if o-ring is in housing, if internal gear (white) screws are tight.

Dual Pin Upgrade: 1 hr. + parts
single pin gear carrier is compatible with dual pin gear hub.
Automatically include dual pin carrier with upgrade unless otherwise specified.
if gear carrier is too tight to fit in new ger hub, try sanding gear carrier shaft slightly to fit better.
This requires installation by technician. adjustments to motor are necessary to ensure noise level and feel are within spec.

Compatibility: Heden Carat, Ymer and Preston
