If too many dents are present, a better option may be to just replace the cam. **TLDR: the more dents, the more sanding, the more lost motion/image shift.**\\ \\ **Recommended Greases:**\\ **FOCUS:** Finding a good balance between a good feeling focus and a noisy focus can be tricky to achieve at times. F5 usually feels too light, allowing the brass followers to be noisy. FIN 2/3 in the camways can help with the noisiness, but can be too heavy on the rest of the focus mechanism, even when thinned with tri-flow. Zeiss Mix thinned with tri-flow seems to be a good middle ground, but not always perfect. FIN (or possibly Ang 20/24) in the camways and Mix/tri-flow in the rest of the focus may be the way to go.\\ __Caution, too much grease on the internal focusing group housings can result in a "sucking" effect with trapping air.__\\ **IRIS:** Mix (without tri-flow) feels decent for iris. GF30 or FIN 2/3 may work, too, likely with the aid of tr-flow for iris.\\ Service Manual: [[staff:servicedb:tokinavista|Disassembly/Re-assembly]] \\ Screws and Parts Info: [[staff:servicedb:tokinaparts|Screws and Parts]] \\ \\ Full CLA: **6-7 hrs.**\\ C+L focus (properly) is basically a full CLA since optics/cam followers and iris ring needs to be removed to clean main chassis. You could cheat and do a crude wipe down with kimwipes without removing optics or iris ring, but there's a chance of introducing contamination.\\ T+S focus (lost motion under scale only): **3-5 hrs**\\ under focus scale, cam has slots with screws that can loosen and cause lost motion form end to end of slot cut out in cam. remove front housing, front optics, rear external rings and iris, focus scale to access tighten and secure. \\ Lost motion in focus: **7-8 hrs.**\\ lost motion is very difficult to eliminate. always on best effort basis. brass bar in focus cam may need to be squeezed and heavier grease used to mask lost motion.\\ Swap mounts: **1 hr**\\ Optics only: **3-4 hrs.**\\ Centering optics (under mount): **1-3 hrs**\\ adjustment screws located under PL mount in rear optics. \\ focus only: **4 hrs**\\ if focus is too heavy, add shim between focus scale and witness ring at iris (towards rear of focus). if focus is too light, add shim.\\ Noise in focus: **2-5 hrs**\\ clean and re-lube focus at brass bar. use Nye 868-L\\ Vista One conversion: **3 hrs.**\\ includes sleeves and front element\\ Clean and re-lube (in addition to vista one conversion): **+ 3-4 hrs**\\ swap focus scale: **1 hr**\\ jammed focus: **2-5 hrs**\\ most likely cam follower has "walked out" and is jammed in cam way. must remove cam to access. replacements usually needed.\\ ==== Notes ==== ==== Media ====
