=====Canon CN-E 85mm T1.3 ===== {{ :lens:1460568834_844735.jpg?400|}} ==== Summary ==== The Canon CN-E line of primes lenses was first introduced as part of their Cinema EOS product line in 2012, initially with the 14mm, 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 135mm with the 20mm and 35mm being added later on. The CN-E primes are fixed focal length lenses that inherit their optical design from the popular L series still-photo prime lenses from Canon. The CN-E primes are only available natively in Canon EF mount but can be converted by Duclos Lenses in Los Angeles, CA. \\ ==== Tech Specs ==== | Manufacturer | Canon | | Series | CN-E | | Model | - | | Focal Length | 85mm | | Max Aperture | T1.3 | | Min Aperture | T22 | | Format | Full Frame | | Image Circle | 43.3mm | | Minimum Focus | 36 in. | | Focus Rotation | 300 | | Iris Blades | 11 | | Optical Design | - | | Squeeze | none | | Front Diameter | 114mm | | Filter Thread | 105mm | | Native Mount | EF (see notes) | | Data Protocol | Canon Eos | | Length | 4 in. | | Weight | 1270g | | Body Telescope | none | | Body Material | Aluminum | | Focus Drive | Manual | | Iris Drive | Manual | | Zoom Drive | - | ==== History ==== Country of Origin: Japan \\ Release Date: 2012 \\ Launch Price: $3,950 \\ Design Revisions:\\ ==== Service ==== Known Issues: Front optical group can get loose in housing if followers are stressed. Lightly shake lens to check. Service Manual: [[staff:servicedb:canoncne|Disassembly/Re-assembly]] \\ \\ Full CLA: **7-10 hrs.**\\ The optical core of this lens is mostly sealed except for the iris slot. Quote higher hours to pull all glass out to access iris. \\ Minor adjustments: **2-3 hrs.**\\ Enter relevant notes here.\\ Focus scale end play: **1 hr**\\ 4 screws in stop ring under focus scale (revealed through window when focus is turned once scale is removed) can loosen. Tighten and glue screws\\ Focus end-play (affects image): **3-5 hrs.**\\ Focus is generally held in with wave washer between delrin rings. Add custom teflon shims to reduce end play. \\ Clean/Align optics only: **3-5 hrs.**\\ Enter relevant notes here.\\ Loose front group: **3-5 hrs.** (3 hrs. for initial investigation)\\ All of the optics for this lens are held into place by 3 cam followers. Common problem: one or more of these cam followers can strip out of the optical housing for two reasons. One, the small cam follower screws are engaged in the optical housing with very little thread. Two, the weight of the optics since they are all in one housing causes a lot more stress on the cam followers. \\ PL Conversion notes\\ Rear element is cut from housing during PL conversion process. if lens needs to go to canon for repairs, lens must be converted back to EF mount before sending. Use designated replacement Rear Element when sending to canon and re-install cut out rear element after lens is returned and re-converted back to PL. Designated rear element will be stored in Canon Parts box with other spare parts. \\ PL Mount Conversion available exclusively from Duclos Lenses. https://www.ducloslenses.com/pages/cne-pl\\ RUSH Fee: add 25% of 6 hours to total for expedited installation\\ See Dis-assmebly guide for specific clearance tests\\ ==== Notes ==== PL Mount Conversion available exclusively from Duclos Lenses. https://www.ducloslenses.com/pages/cne-pl \\ ==== Media ==== {{ :lens:canon-cn-e20mm-specifications-chart.pdf |}}
